Climate | Other activities to do and more info

Annual prospect

The climate belongs to Continental Cold with dry season.

An important variation of rains is produced from West to East. Rains degree goes from 4,000 annual mm on mountain range points, like Puerto Blest, to only 600 annual mm in the area of Limay River.

Temperatures decrease dramatically from the lower slopes towards the hills summit.

In winter, the average temperature is from 2 to 4ºC and in summer between 14 and 18ºC. These climatic changes to which we can add differences as regards lands and rugged areas result in important changes in vegetation and fauna.

Winds usually blow from the Northwest to the Southwest, although it is not strange that they come from the East in autumn, they are cold and dry.

Other activities to do

Bariloche is another of the tourist sites that offers all kinds of adventures throughout the year. If you would like to live and feel nature by practising outdoor activities, Bariloche is the ideal destination for your holidays, as it offers all kinds of choices and difficulty degrees:

It is going downstream in raft or rubber raft along the river rapids. The cause of these rapids are the stones, waves and gaps that make the water move.

The Rivers are classified according to their difficulty, from I to VI grades. Grade VI is non-navigable for rafting crafts, while grade I is the quietest.

The crafts for rafting take, in general, up to 10 people and the rafting guide, who is the person in charge of giving out instructions for navigation and an expert on the region.

Rafting Places.

  • Manso River is of glacial origin and its source is Tronador Hill's glaciers. Its waters run Mascardi, Los Moscos, Hess and Seffen lakes. And they divide them into three sections: High - Medium - low. Its route shows andino-patagonico style woods and Valdiviana jungle, together with landscapes of unique beauty.

This is an activity that joins adventure with landscape, since you can enjoy better landscapes as from the air.

This activity includes camping characteristics. Its main objective is to find hidden landscapes, 'miradores' view points and other places not accessible by car to enjoy nature fully. It includes mountain walks, walks to the refuges, crossings between refuges and long trips with camping breaks.

This area has mountain refuges. These are cabin-like buildings with basic facilities: they have joint bedrooms, kitchen, eating room and toilets. We can get to them by taking paths drawn by woods and mountains. There are 7 refuges around Bariloche at present. Each of them has its own characteristics and different difficulty degrees as regards its accessibility.

Besides, for those who prefer quieter options and with less difficulty, there are paths where you can see woods from the region and have the best views. Among these options we find: Cerro Llao Llao, Sendero Fundación (Fundación Path), Sendero al Lago Escondido (Lago Escondido Path), walks on Otto Hill, etc.

  • Do not go to the mountain alone if you do not have experience.
